PROJECT ENGINEER
Location: Project Site – Alaska

Key Responsibilities:

Construction Monitoring: Supervise daily construction activities to ensure they align with project plans and schedules.

Permit Compliance: Ensure adherence to permits, regulations, and environmental guidelines.

Reporting: Prepare detailed progress reports, including photos, summaries, and production analysis, to keep stakeholders informed.

Quality Assurance: Conduct inspections to verify work meets high-quality standards.

Problem-Solving: Proactively identify and resolve construction challenges to maintain smooth operations.

Collaboration: Work directly with clients, contractors, consultants, and the company owner to coordinate project activities.

Documentation: Keep thorough and organized records of project progress, permits, and other key documents.
Qualifications:
-
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.

Experience: 3–5 years of experience in construction project engineering, ideally with Alaskan project environments.

Technical Skills:
-
Proficiency with computer software.
-
Understanding of construction materials and practices.
-
Ability to reference design guidance manuals and make sound recommendations.
-
Ability to prepare clear and concise technical reports, including daily logs, progress reports, and compliance documentation.

Experience in quality assurance processes, such as punch lists, testing, and inspections.

Soft Skills: Self-starter attitude, adaptability, and strong organizational skills. Effective communication in the field on construction sites.

Other Requirements:

Willingness to work on-site in Alaska.

Comfortable in remote and demanding environments.

Valid driver’s license.

Familiar with Alaska travel conditions.

Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate is someone who lives in Alaska and is familiar with the bustle of summer construction season. Has experience with construction administration on municipal and state projects in Alaska, willingness to travel throughout the state (primarily on the roadway system), been involved in any phase of the design/permitting process for construction projects, understands material testing requirements and what each test entails, strong communication skills and able to work collaboratively with contractors, and is willing to learn new skills.
AK Built Construction & Design provides a diverse array of services, all related to civil infrastructure and government contracting. Presently, we are involved in general contracting on federal, state, and municipal projects, providing construction administration services, civil engineering consulting, and septic system design, inspection, and construction.

You will have the opportunity to work on projects as an inspector, a project engineer overseeing construction crews, and if you have an engineering degree and want to grow to be a P.E. you'll be working alongside other licensed engineers.

CIVIL ENGINEERING INTERN

As a growing business, we are looking for an enthusiastic Intern to join our team and gain hands-on experience while contributing to real-world projects. This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with the founder and make a meaningful impact in the early stages of our company’s growth.
What You’ll Do:
As a Intern, you’ll play a role in supporting the team with key responsibilities such as:

Assisting with site inspections and monitoring construction progress to ensure quality and compliance.

Supporting the preparation of technical reports, drawings, and documentation.

Conducting quantity takeoffs and contributing to cost estimates for ongoing projects.

Reviewing and interpreting construction plans and specifications.

Assisting with permit applications and ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

Collaborating with contractors, consultants, and team members to solve engineering/construction challenges.

What We’re Looking For:
